How to Use the Lumetallix Instant Lead Detection Kit?
Paint
Notes:
- On walls and wooden structures, we recommend using a sharp tool (knife or cutter) to draw an X to uncover all the paint layers.
Glass
Notes:
- If the glass is new, lead could be hard to detect at the surface (the lead will be released after several use). In this case, we recommend using an engraving pen to make lead accessible by scratching a bit the surface.
- Alternatively, you can use sanding paper to scratch the surface, but we do not recommend you use this tool as it makes a lot of dust.
Plastic
Notes:
- Sometimes lead is highly compressed into the plastic, making it hard to test for lead. You may have to wait up to one hour to see the item glowing.
- If the plastic doesn’t glow immediately, wait some minutes, then apply some reagent again.
Metal
Notes:
- Using a melamine sponge enables to have clear results. When testing directly onto to metal, the green glow may be hard to see.
Ceramic
Notes:
- For optimal results, test a deteriorated area of the item. Generally, lead can be found in the glazing.
